Session replay

Install replay option in Blipit.init

The browser SDK can record the page as the user saw it and upload the minute before an error. The recorder is a separate 61 KB add-on fetched from blipit.io only when a session is sampled, so the core script stays small.

1Turn it on

onErrorSampleRate (default 1) is the share of sessions that keep a rolling buffer of the last 60 to 120 seconds and upload it when an error is captured, then keep recording. sessionSampleRate (default 0) is the share of sessions recorded from the start whether or not anything breaks.

js
Blipit.init({
  key: "<public key>",
  release: "2026.09.28",
  replay: { sessionSampleRate: 0.05, onErrorSampleRate: 1 }
});

2Masking

Privacy is on and cannot be loosened from the page: all text and inputs are masked, images, video, audio, canvas, iframes and password fields become empty boxes of the same size, and anything with data-blipit-block is blocked. Token-like values in the page URL are redacted.

3Watch a replay

Replays lists recordings by project, with or without errors, and by URL. The player has play, 1x, 2x, 4x, skip inactivity and a red marker per error that links to its issue. An issue whose latest event has a replay shows Watch replay.

Good to know

  • Quota per month: Free 50, Solo 1,000, Team 5,000, Scale 20,000 replays. Past it the SDK stops recording for that session and nothing is billed. Replays are kept 30 days.
  • A recording stops after 60 minutes, 500 segments or 20 MB. Chunks go out every 10 seconds or at 1 MB, gzipped, and the last one when the tab closes.
  • Sentry SDK replays are not read; use the Blipit browser script for replay.
